Summer Evening in the Park

Yesterday Mommy and Daddy walked me to our favorite park. You know, the one where Daddy chases the soccer ball around the field like a crazy person while I always manage to steal it from him.

While we were playing Mommy spotted the parents of my Boxer friend Ruger. They were playing baseball at the park but Ruger was not with them. Ruger's Dad walked back to their house to get my buddy and after a few minutes Ruger had arrived. We immediately joined together in the Boxer shuffle and displayed some depth-defying acrobatics. We soon grew tired and headed to the water fountain for a drink.

Ruger showed me how it was done.

He is a lot taller than me. I'm a mini-Boxer! I could barely reach the fountain.

That's me, the 45 lb Boxer runt. So they cupped the water in their hands and I was able to quench my thirst.

Don't feel bad, Cairo- I'm not very big for a standard poodle either. I only weigh 39 lbs. My hair makes me look bigger. I'm glad you got to play with your friend. Wish I lived near you so I could be your friend. All the dogs around here are old like their humans.

There's nothing wrong with being small! Mini-boxers rule. I probably won't grow up to "meet the standard". I'm growing fast, but I'm still small for my size. It's too bad you don't live closer so we could play! Poor Uncle Bernie could use the break!

Hi Cairo,

Mini-Boxers rule! I'm pretty small, too, and have trouble reaching the water fountain. By the way, I loved your "pool party" picture - my Mom recreated the scene at our house. Check out the picture on my blog (

I've never seen a dog drink out of the fountain like that before - really cute :) I hope your weather is cooling down.
