World Cup Fever

Mommy and Daddy have been so infected with World Cup fever that they started playing soccer with me again.

They say I'm an excellent defender.

I block the ball with my chest and dribble with my snout.

All that running makes me thirsty...time for a break.

She Was Doing Great Until The Kibble Tasting Part...

Cairo auditions for a dog food commercial...

...and flunks!

Oh well, there's always a job to be found in community policing and obedience training videos.

Boxer Sighting at the World Cup!

Looks like this dude is working security. After all, we Boxers are a working breed.

A Weekend Without the Parents

My uncle Jacob took care of me while Mommy and Daddy spent the weekend in San Francisco. I got to play around the house and throw wild parties with the neighbor dogs while Mommy and Daddy were 500 miles away!

They stayed in San Francisco with Mommy's friend who has two pet bunnies, Nemo (right) and Millie (left).

Daddy said that the bunnies are quite active. They fight each other, enjoy chewing on the furniture and will stand on their hind legs to beg for food. They sound like fun playmates.

Then they saw a bat ray at the Fisherman's Wharf aquarium which reminded them of me.

It was so friendly that it wanted to jump out of its tank and greet the tourists.

Cairo The Futbol Star

Cairo made her debut at the 2006 World Cup stealing the ball from both England and Paraguay...

Word is Cairo will replace David "Posh Spice" Beckham as England's new striker.

Canine Mutants

(why Daddy needs to remember to use the "red eye reduction" when he takes flash pictures)

Here Cairo auditions for X-Men 4: Canine Evolution. She is going for the part of a karate commando dog that can shoot lasers from her eyes. The film should hit theatres in summer 2008.

Strollers For Dogs?

Daddy was in Dana Point, CA yesterday and he snapped this photo for me.

Yeah, that's a pug, in a stroller! The owners said that the pug gets too overheated during walks so they place him in a stroller. It's more like a dog chariot than a stroller since it is specifically designed to carry small breed dogs.

Daddy said I would break out of that thing and destroy it because I'm such a free spirit.

Pool Party

The other day Mommy and Daddy were in the backyard with a bicycle pump and some blue blanket thing. I had no idea what they were doing. Then the blanket started to expand and develop a round shape. It is actually a plastic thing that humans call a pool.

They filled it up with water and then plopped me in.

Honestly, I didn't know what I was supposed to do. I don't really enjoy water, so I just kinda stood there while Mommy splashed water on me. Then she brought out my doggy shampoo and I realized that this plastic pool was a giant scheme just so they could give me a bath.

Those tricky parents of mine!

FIFA World Cup 2006

Time to party because World Cup season has arrived!

...at least that's what Mommy and Daddy say.

They love soccer futbol. They are rooting for Brazil, who has to defend the cup (they won in 2002). But I don't really care who wins, as long as I get some beer and munchies while they watch the games.

California Primary Elections

Mommy and Daddy went to vote yesterday for the primary election. The polling place was on our usual walking route, so they took me with them.

Can you believe I had to wait outside? The so-called "land of the free" doesn't allow dogs the right to vote! Mommy and Daddy took turns watching me while they each voted. Daddy let me run in the park for a while.

California could have used my vote yesterday considering the widespread apathy of the voting public--this election had the lowest turnout in 60 years.

But Daddy was cool, he actually voted for me as a write-in candidate for District Attorney. He thinks our current DA is a jerk.

And that's how democracy goes to the dogs...

Beware of Rogue Veterinarians

This is why it's important to know your neighbors.

MUSKOGEE, Okla. - A woman has filed a complaint against her neighbor, a veterinarian who, without permission, neutered her 10-week-old puppy and surgically quieted his bark.

James Risch, the veterinarian, said he performed the procedures after he found the puppy barking on his porch and thought it was a stray.

"He maimed my puppy," Nancy Miller wrote in the complaint to the Oklahoma State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. "This man is a menace to animals and should not be allowed to continue to practice."

Poor dog. The rogue vet went on to apologize for his "impulsive behavior"...more like unacceptable behavior to me. Thankfully Mommy and Daddy are here to protect me from crazy neighbor people.

Meet The Baby Boxers

This morning I recommend you check out the two following Boxer blogs.

First there's Daisy-Bean the Boxer. Daisy-Bean had a litter of puppies a month ago. Click over for definitive cuteness as you see the Boxer puppies explore their new world under their mommy's watch.

Then check out Ellie the Boxer which documents the exploits of a little white female Boxer.

. . .

I was a puppy once, and seeing these puppies reminds me of the good old days of no responsibility, no toilet training and baths in the sink.

More details to come.

Memorial Day Weekend

Last weekend we went to my grandparents' house for a barbeque where I showed off my new skills with the bouncy ball.

If I keep this up they might send me to the circus...

They let me munch on some corn (and some burgers too)

Then we went to a nearby park to run and play. My pug uncle Rocky couldn't keep up (he's an old man now) with my brakeneck speed. But here we are at the end of the day.
