a.ka. How To Transform a Cute Boxer Into A Mean-Looking Junkyard Dog
Saturday's post at the Daily Puppy featured a Boxer named Hurricane. There are pictures of the cute pup before and after his ear cropping. This is not only a cruel and painful procedure for the dog, but it takes away one of the cutest features of a Boxer--their velvety floppy ears.
We never even considered cropping Cairo's ears. Look at that cute puppy...
How could one ever think of harming those soft ears and that angelic Boxer soul...

No More Doggie Beds For Cairo
I just returned home to find that Cairo spent the day destroying her doggie bed. Here she is caught in the act:
The green shrapnel is the stuffing from the bed. This is actually the fourth doggie bed she has destroyed. Here are the previous victims: (1) (2) (3)
Cairo settled down enough to pose for a picture.
Yum, that bed was tasty.

Chinese New Year
Being that it is the Year of the Dog, Cairo wishes you a Happy Chinese New Year!
People born in this year are loyal, honest, and trustworthy, but can also be stubborn and selfish. Dogs get along with Horses, Rabbits, and Tigers.
Famous people born in the year of the dog: Elvis Presley, David Bowie and both George and Laura Bush.

The Feast of San Anton cont.
It's a Boxer from Madrid getting blessed...

The Power of Christ Compels You!
Father Juan Manuel Villar casts out demons from a Chihuaua in Madrid, Spain.
He was actually blessing the dog as part of the feast of San Anton, the patron saint of animals. But we all know that as a breed, Chihuahuas need extra blessings.
But why settle for an exorcist when you could get Caesar Milan?

Sacred Cow
Back from outer space, Cairo chills on the sofa with her moo cow:
Cairo loves her moo cow because it has a voice box that really "moos". One squeeze of the cow's belly and it will moo for about ten seconds. Sure, it gets annoying after awhile. But we know Cairo is having fun...
I'd like to thank my readers for all your support over the weekend. Cairo got many votes at the Daily Puppy and her Boxer Rebellion is off to a good start. General J.C. Christian even got in on the action and lent his support to Cairo.
If you just discovered Cairo's Place for the first time, then welcome! If you received a comment on your blog from Cairo, well, that was Cairo's Mom who is trying to spread the Boxer Rebellion throughout the entire blogosphere.

My Fellow Americans...
Doesn't Cairo look great as president?
I will be a good bitch president. I promise not to go poo-poo on the Constitution like our current president does. But don't blame me if I staff my cabinet with all my buddies...

POISON DOG FOOD ALERT
This is a public service anouncement courtesy of Cairo the Boxer:
(CBS) Contaminated dog food remains a source of concern, despite a recall late last month. Dog and cat food, sold under the brand names "Diamond," "Country Value" and "Professional," was pulled from store shelves by Diamond Pet Foods, but is blamed in the deaths of at least 76 dogs nationwide.
Diamond says it contained a dangerous fungus byproduct. The naturally-occurring chemical, which is found on corn, can cause serious liver damage in animals.

Boxer For President in 2008
I think the world is ready for a canine president. Hell, anything beats what we have now, except maybe President Pat Robertson.

Sleepy Time Boxer
Here's Cairo sleeping in her first bed when she was only 8 weeks old. Note the size of the tennis ball compared to the size of her head.
Now Cairo is all grown up, but still enjoys sleeping in bed.
If only these damned humans wouldn't take up all the space in my bed...

Do You Look Like Your Dog?
Then maybe you could win a year's supply of dog food:
TEL AVIV, Israel -- While other competitions may judge the beauty of humans or animals, one contest held in Israel this week judged which owners most closely resembled their dogs. Judges at the dog owner look-alike competition held at a Tel Aviv mall examined the style and appearance of 10 entries, from wrinkled bulldogs with wrinkled owners to long-faced dogs and long-faced owners.
I saw this story on Keith Olbermann's program. He loves animals. Practically every show has a story about cats, dogs or other critters.
And the winner is...
A pug-nosed man!

New Year's Resolutions
I hope that all my readers had a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration.
I made some resolutions and would like to share them...
- Try not to destroy the beds my parents buy me
- Motivate my parents to take me on more walks
- Hang out with my friend Maddie (she is my Boxer neighbor)
- Meet new animals
- Most important...always look cute so if I break any of these resoultions my parents won't get mad.
Leave your new year resolutions in the comments!
